Vicarious Vacations

Visual Design, Prototyping, UI/UX, Video Editing

September - December 2016

Vicarious Vacations is a concept designed during a 10-week long design course at Northwestern University’s Segal Design Institute. Vicarious Vacations is a virtual touring app that connects users to local people around the world to experience cultures and countries in real-time. In this group project, I designed a prototype for a mobile app and directed a promotional video.

Explore & Plan

The homepage is meant to be as simple as possible, containing a search bar, featured tours, as well as the number of tour guides available for each location. After selecting a location, the user can build and customize an itinerary based on specific interests and also input requests. Since this is meant to be a virtual experience, the duration of each tour would only last a few hours.

Match

Based on user profiles, for both the traveller and local guide, the app matches two people together. This way, the user does not have to spend a lot of time going through the number of available tour guides, and tour guides have an equal chance of getting selected.
